Budget Battle Update

House Republicans have submitted a two-week budget designed to advert a Government shutdown.  The budget includes $2 billion in proposed spending cuts.  This represents a prorata share of the $60 billion of cuts approved last week by the House.

Senate Leader Harry Reid has of course called this a non-starter basically stating he was unable to see any sign of compromise.  Speaker Boehner told Mr. Reid he was right, the House Republicans are refusing to compromise on their demand for spending cuts.

It seems like the shutdown just got closer.
