Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik got it right when he made this statement yesterday:
“Let me say one thing, because people tend to pooh-pooh this business about all the vitriol that we hear inflaming the American public by people who make a living off of doing that,” the sheriff said during a press conference. “That may be free speech, but it’s not without consequences.”
Yes, the killer more than likely has mental issues and I am not blaming any politician or commentator for the actions of this person. That said, I just ask that before politicians or commentators speak in threatening hyperbole, they consider there may be those that are listening that take them more seriously and literally then was ever intended.
