The British Medical Journal has published a report stating that the 1998 report by Dr. Andrew Wakefield is a fraud. Dr. Wakefield alleged that normal children could become autistic as a result of being vaccinated. In the years since the study was published, sadly, up to 40% of American parents have declined to or delayed vaccinating their children out of fear that it may cause autism. Outbreaks of childhood diseases such as measles, mumps and whooping cough have been on the rise as a result.
